Another Way of Seeing (Starry Night) is part of a series, including stills, about Google Art Project. The hyperreality of the Projectʼs gigapixel-sized images of master paintings allows viewers to see works at a larger-than-life size. This is both a further assault on the aura of the painting—the actual object no longer as definitive as the digital file—and fetishism of detail and the genius of masterpieces. The video exploits the contradictory nature of looking at brush strokes close up as pixels and how experiencing digitized paintings on the internet becomes a fundamentally time-based experience.
